Here
are some frequently asked questions about easythreads™
that may help you as you are working with the program.

Why are there only a few of the thread brands in the trial version?
Not all the thread brands are set as "included" in the easythreads trial version. But you
can "include" and "uninclude" any of thread brands in the easythreads database you would like.
Just open easythreads and select File --> Preferences and click on the Brands tab. You
should see all the thread brands listed in the included brands
listbox. Go through that list and remove the check next to brands
that you are not interested in, and make sure there are checks next
to brands that you own or have designs in or think you might be interested
in. You can have many, many
checked, just not all. I have over 25 checked and the performance
is great. Once you have gone through all the brands, and are happy
with your selections, click on the OK button. It may take a while
for the process to remove threads from it’s memory, but you will
only have to do this once. The program will remember your selections
from now on.

Every time I run the Check For Updates, it says it was aborted, and I didn't press the Cancel button.
This was a bug in one of the earlier builds, but has been fixed. You
will need to run the update manually to get the fix onto your
computer. Here are the instructions to update manually:
Close easythreads.
Download the update program by clicking here.
Click on the Save button (not the Run button) when the File Download window is displayed.
Select the C:\temp\easythreads directory to
download this file into. If this directory does not
exist, create it. If it does exist and has files
and/or directories in it, delete them. This file
MUST be put in this specific directory.
Using Explore (right click on the green Start button on the bottom left corner of your screen and select Explore), navigate to C:\temp\easythreads. Unzip or extract the file called easythreads_update.zip in the same directory (C:\temp\easythreads).
Run the program called easythreads_Update.exe.
Follow the prompts.
You can now use the Check For Updates again and you won't see the aborted message, unless you press the Cancel button yourself.

Is easythreads compatible with Vista OS?
Yes, easythreads runs on Vista. You will need to use these special
installation instructions to install easythreads on a Vista Operating
System.

Why does converting take so long or never seem to finish at all?
We recently had to increase the granularity of the formula for
converting threads, and this adversely affected the performance
of the conversions. There is a simple workaround, though. You
will need to limit the number of thread brands the program works
with. Open File --> Preferences and click on the Brands tab. You
should see all the thread brands listed in the included brands
listbox. Go through that list and remove the check next to brands
that you are not interested in, and make sure there are checks next
to brands that you own or have designs in or think you might be interested
in. You can have many, many

Do I have to buy a Service Agreement to get the updates of easythreads?
No, you do not have to buy a Service Agreement to get the updates of easythreads. The
Check For Updates feature of easythreads does not work unless you have a current
Service Agreement, but you can update manually by following these step-by-step
instructions:
Close easythreads.
Click on the “Download v2.3 Update” link on the update page (http://www.easythreads.com/updates.asp?nav=updates).
Click on the Save button when the File Download window is displayed.
Select the C:\temp\easythreads directory. If this directory does not exist, create it. If it does exist and has files and/or directories in it, delete them. This file MUST be put in this specific directory.

How do I get a thread into
my Thread Chart?
You can enter a thread in three
different ways. You can enter the color number in the Find box and press
enter. Or you can double click on the color in the color list. Or you
can click on the color in the color list and drag it into the Thread Chart.

My computer says it is blocking the setup.exe file. What can I do to unblock it?
Save the file onto your computer.
Click Start, click My Computer, and navigate to the file that you saved.
Right-click the file that you saved, and then click Properties.
Click Unblock near the bottom of the dialog box.

I have a desktop and a laptop computer. When I purchase easythreads, I would like to put it on both computers. Do I have to buy two copies of the program?
No, you do not have to purchase two copies of easythreads. When you purchase easythreads,
you are purchasing two licenses, so you can install it on your desktop and your laptop, and
register it on both machines.

I’ve just bought the
Madeira Thread Treasure Chest. I really don’t want to type all of
those thread color numbers to enter them into My Inventory. Is there a
quicker way?
Yes. Select
Import Into Inventory on the File menu, and you will see this screen:
Select Madeira Rayon in the
Brand drop down and Madeira Embroidery Thread Treasure Chest in the Thread
Set drop down, and click on the OK button. easythreads™
will insert all of the threads in the Treasure Chest into the program
for you.
